Visiting a Sofa Factory near Bangkok: What to Bring and What to Check

Factory Source Thailand ·

If you are about to commission upholstered furniture in volume, an hour inside the factory tells you more than any brochure. You see who actually builds the frame, how foam is cut, and whether quality control is a process or a slogan.

Factory Source Thailand welcomes project clients by appointment at two places. The showroom — fabrics, finished pieces and meetings — is at 272 Than Thip 3 Alley, Phlabphla, Wang Thonglang, Bangkok 10310 (3rd floor), open Mon–Sat 10:00–19:00 and Sun 11:00–17:00. The factory, where frames, foam, sewing and upholstery are done, is at 259/1 Soi Prachakhon 9, Bang Duea, Mueang Samut Prakan, Samut Prakan 10270, just outside Bangkok.

Before you come

  • Book ahead through the contact form so the right person is there — tell us whether you want the showroom (fabrics and finished pieces), the factory floor (production), or both.
  • Bring the brief: drawings or reference photos, dimensions, quantities, fabric ideas and your deadline.
  • Bring samples if you are matching an existing piece or fabric.
  • Bring the decision-maker if possible; sample sign-off is faster when the person who approves is in the room.

What to look at on the floor

  • Frames — are they built in-house? What timber, how is it dried, how are joints made? Bought-in frames vary between batches.
  • Foam — what density goes into commercial seats? Ask to see the specification, not just feel a cushion.
  • Springs — sinuous or 8-way hand-tied, and why for your piece.
  • Cutting and sewing — how is fabric laid out for pattern and dye-lot consistency?
  • QC — what is measured, against what reference, and is it recorded?

At our Samut Prakan factory every step is in-house: frame work, foam cutting, spring work, fabric cutting, sewing, upholstery and QC.

Questions worth asking

  • What is the minimum per style, and is a single sample possible first?
  • What is the lead time, measured from sample approval or from order?
  • What do you keep on file for re-orders?
  • Can you show a similar piece you have produced in volume?

Can’t visit in person?

Overseas buyers often approve by sample instead. We build a physical sample for approval before any run, and can share photos and measurements of production units against it. See exporting upholstered furniture from Thailand.
